  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup margarine
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups rolled oats
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup candy-coated chocolate pieces

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat to 350°F (175°C) and grease cookie sheets.
  2. Prepare the Dough: In a very large bowl, beat together brown sugar, white sugar, margarine, and butter until smooth.
  3. Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla extract.
  4. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, oats, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Combine and Add Mix-ins: Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the sugar mixture until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips and candy-coated pieces.
  6. Shape and Bake: Drop tablespoonfuls of dough onto prepared cookie sheets. Bake for 10 to 11 minutes or until edges are golden (for chewy cookies, remove before they look fully done).
